The DART course

DART is a one day airway course in which you learn the skills to apply the Difficult Airway Society guidelines (DAS). DART has been ratified and endorsed by the Difficult Airway Society.

Since its inception by trainees in Bristol, the DART course has been delivered in multiple sites around the UK and even in Australia. The content is updated from course to course in response to feedback from attendees and to reflect changes in best practice.

We aim to provide training for healthcare professionals involved with airway management, taught through small group, hands on workshops. Delegates have previously included anaesthetists in all stages of training, ED staff, ODPs, anaesthetic nurses and ITU nurses. If you would like more information about the course, please email us at

The next course on the 5th June 2020 has been postponed until further notice due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We have updated the website with some airway guidance for managing COVID-19 patients

The next Primary FRCA DART course will be on the 2nd October 2020 (tbc). This is aimed at novice anaesthetists, clinical fellows and those taking the Primary FRCA in the Severn Deanery and can be counted as one of your deanery primary study days. Please keep an eye out for the deanery email for further details on how to book a place. We are waiting for confirmation that this course will be able to be run with social distancing measures in place.

If you are a trainer, our philosophy is to provide you materials and support the delivery of DART in your centre. Contact for further information
