E-mail Print PDF

Attendees

Fiona (thanks for supper), Nick, Jon, Ben, Natasha W, Lucy M

Apologies

Gareth, Chris T

General Communications

We've slipped back into email as a form of comms. This will always tend to leave people out, so please use the forum or contact Ben - I can send a mass email to those registered on the website, or provide an up to date email list.

Much discussion about our accessibility to newcomers - agreed we're okay as we are. Should invite keen people at courses and use contributions to meetings / forum as a filter. PLEASE USE THE FORUM FOR DISCUSSIONS. SUBSCRIBE TO TOPICS SO YOU KNOW WHEN THERE'S A NEW POST .

July DART

Dan FT will be course manger this time.

Consultant faculty so far: Gleeson, Copp, Seller, Kelly. ? Shinde ?MatMol - Nick to recruit

Trainee faculty to include: Gibbison, Webster, ?Miller, Reston, Howser, Hurford, Paddy, Tessa, Thompson, Gibbon, Barnes

Advertising - need to get individuals to actually print and put up posters in hospitals around the region. Mass email to go out soon via Julie Flowers for DART and DARTSIM

DART is now eligible for automatic study leave approval!

Increasing profile: could we offer a meeting at DAS in the Autumn to recruit people to run DART in their region? This worked for OneLung. Could we operate under the banner of the RCoA? We think we can do better than the 'college course' which is very popular due to the gravitas of the college.

October DART

Experiement with the idea of consultants only, Nick will advertise things this way. If we don't recruit a full course of consultants we can provide a mixed course with separation in the groups.

May 17th : DARTSIM

AndyMac is very keen on this course but wants us to make it bigger. This means running 2 simulations in parallel and processing 10 delegates at a time. This requires minimum 4 faculty plus those to act other parts like surgeon. Faculty recruiting no prob at moment but could be a burden later on. Current faculty offered: Giz, Nick, Jon, Lucy, Chris, Fiona, ?Ben

ODP recruitment relies on them being paid a bank shift and therefore we need to butter up the theatre managers to let them out.

Payment : will be £200 for external, £100 for internal candidates

recruiting: so far 7 candidates. Please can we all help find 3 more? We also have a scope problem to sort out.

Champions: Jonboy is leaving all this magnificent work behind him and leaving the country - we need a DARTSIM champion. Lucy Miller kindly volunteered to take on this task, with Ben's assistance. We need to read 'Safety at the Sharp End'

Rome

Ben to speak to Chris Monk about what is wanted re workshops. Storz Italia are on board. probably Plan B and Plan D at most.

Airway Lab

Jon suggested setting up a Deanery airway lab using money given to us. Where to put it is a major problem though. More discussion on this is needed. As a side issue, we need to spend this money or it won't come our way again. About £5000....
